From Agnès de Jésus to Céline and Thérèse - October 22-24 (?) , 1886

From Marie of the Sacred Heart (Marie) to Céline and Thérèse

October 22-24 (?), 1886

For housework-washing, sweeping, etc.-in which all the Carmelite nuns shared, the postulant needed a suitable bonnet, but Céline and Thérèse were able to find only a very stylish one in the town.

My darlings,

I thank you with all my heart for your kindness, but I don't need this stylish bonnet for sweeping the floors. Our Mother does not want it, and I'll tell you in confidence that I'd be ashamed of myself if I were to have such little spirit as not to wear a nightcap. What does it matter? Provided God is content and finds you beautiful, you don't have to worry about pleasing anyone but Him. See you soon, little sisters, whom I love so much. Kiss Papa for me, and buy something else at Mme. Caval's shop.
