From sr Marie of the Eucharist to her parents (Guérin) - September 1895.

             Dear Father and dear Mother,

If only you knew how I felt yesterday evening when I saw all the gifts you had given us… My heart melted out of affection, joy, sorrow, I don’t quite know what because I was so moved, I can’t describe it. I love you so much that I am very often forced to stop thinking I love you, because the emotion is very strong and I feel incapable of returning my affection.

[v°] Yesterday the refectory was filled with your gifts, I’ve never seen so many… and then to finish… another basket of plums arrived… This time, I couldn’t contain myself… Our Mother was very touched too… but explaining to you what we all felt is impossible.

All the Carmelites send you all their love… If only you had seen them go and look in the crates and baskets. It was such a funny scene; there was a whole procession of them.

Your little Benjamin who loves you too, too, too much.
