From Jeanne La Néele to Thérèse - September 15-16, 1897.

September 15-16, 1897

Dear little Thérèse,

I do not know what to send you in order to please you; when I go out, I look in the store windows with great attention, always in search of an object which may please you. Yesterday, I saw this picture at Dudouit's, and I thought of sending it to you to show I am thinking of you all the time. Each day, I pay you a little visit, I take your photograph, and 1 remain a while looking at you and thinking of you. It is a meditation, then I send you a long kiss, very tender and affectionate. Francis told me that you would send us a little angel when you were up above; I am sure that our little Marie-Thérèse- Françoise will resemble you. I depend on it, for good Jesus can refuse you nothing. I beg you, do not forget to send me this little angel.

I shall not tire you out any longer, dear little Sister; if you could read into my heart, you would be surprised to see there all the affection I have for you. May the Blessed Virgin keep you, my darling, and may she protect you. With a sad and heavy heart I am sending you a kiss; how fortunate your sisters are to be taking care of you, and to be near you!

Francis joins me in kissing you and sending his regards to Reverend Mother Prioress.

Your little sister who loves you, J. La Néele
