Jesus!

Dear little Céline,

Provided that the painting is at the Carmel by about 10th March it will be early enough, so don’t worry. I was mistaken earlier when I asked you for something for the other Saturday; next Saturday, the day after tomorrow, is the last day you will be able to give us something. If you want a change, you could buy beef for [v°] roasting. Don’t tell Aunt I wrote to you about that, I would be embarrassed; Sister Agnès is the one it concerns.

Farewell, darling petit Célin1, I’m not saying anything because what I have to say can’t be said but is understood in a gaze from one soul to another. In the visiting room, I envied the lot of Sister Thérèse of the Child Jesus, not because poor little Marie annoys me; oh, no, but she is so young! she has not suffered, and trial matures souls…

Your sister who loves you very tenderly.
