Darling petit Célin1,

So you are not happy in your beautiful manor house? (Céline and Léonie were with the Guérin family on holiday in La Musse from 10th to 31st July) Oh, no! There is no happiness left for us here below!

So much the better, we are sending the best, that is to say our most precious possessions, to Heaven. Let us travel with no other commodity than our tears… Let us let the worldly be glad. We shall have eternity to forget our sorrows. Forget them?
No, not [v°1] forget them, for in our heavenly Father’s house it will be sweet to remember our anguish.
We shall then understand his impenetrable designs! Oh! When will that beautiful, eternal day gleam for us?...
Sr. M. of the S. H. wrote to Sr. Costard and a little note to Papa in case he understands it.
Farewell my darling, to help you accept my brevity I’m sending you these two little sentences that the Father wrote on 27th December: “Let us leave Jesus full freedom to touch and bruise even the most inner fibres of our Hearts…”

“Do not say that Jesus disappears when you suffer, I maintain that he gives himself to you better than ever; for the Cross is Jesus.”
