From Sister Agnès of Jesus to Céline 28th (?) February 1889.

My darling petit Célin1,

You are very kind to have written to us so soon. We are truly united with you in the little cell-bedroom where everything is so poor except your heart. Yes my darling, your heart is rich in Heavenly goods, disenchanted and disillusioned with the false goods here below, and prepared and pruned for suffering and the cross. Ah! What a privilege! Let’s be proud of our lot!

And our darling Father!... [v°] oh what a saint he is!... I’m like you, I’m hoping for a prompt outcome… I hope to see him soon… But I surrender myself to God in everything. Doesn’t he know better than us what is best for us?

Farewell, my darling little daughter, if only you knew how much I love you! Yet long gone are the days when I would cradle you on my lap and talk to you about your First Communion! They are such sweet memories to my heart. They’re a special link between your soul and mine…

Ah! I know why Jesus wanted such good care to be taken of his darling little flower… It was, first of all, to take a sweet rest in her corolla and then plant his cross there! I am so [v° tv] proud to have contributed to this fine work. May Jesus’ little flower only ever open up on the side of Heaven.

Sr. Agnès of Jesus.
