Darling petit Célin1,

We have just this minute received your letter. Our trial is continuing and growing! since hope of seeing our darling Father seems almost lost, at least for the moment. Ah! Let’s not lose heart, let us above all pray [1 v°] for our beloved Father who is so very distressed! I find that all these noises he can hear is a martyrdom… Well, let us not lose hope in the Lord! Let us say to Him in the words of a holy nun of the Visitation convent (Mother Chappuis), whose life I am currently reading: “Lord I feel nothing but happiness at what you do, I could not find pleasure in other [2 r°] things; I feel you only do what I love.”

My darling Céline, take heart… all things pass!... “Now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation (2 Cor. 6:2)” and also at present everything must remind us of Jesus’ Passion (Passion Sunday was 7th April).

… Let’s suffer together with Him and for Him… the time for rejoicing will come, a time in eternity, which no vicissitude will trouble any longer!

[2 v°] Farewell my darling, I would like to write more but it’s impossible!...

I send you and my little Léonie lots of love.

Don’t give the letter to Papa if you believe it will hurt him, I didn’t dare write to him.
